Vidyasiri Scholarship 2022 is a scholarship scheme that is being provided to eligible students by the Department of Backward Classes Welfare, the Government of Karnataka. The current Vidyasiri Scholarship ePASS Scheme 2022 is especially for the candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD categories.

Lakhs of candidates apply for this scholarship scheme. Under this platform, the Government of Karnataka pays the fees for higher studies to the eligible students which are prescribed by the colleges. Karnataka ePass Vidyasiri Scholarship 2022 is very helpful for a student who wants to complete his higher education but doesn’t have money to pay for the course fee. 

Through Karnataka ePass Scholarship Scheme, the Government of Karnataka uses the Electronic Payment & Application System of Scholarships. This scheme offers many benefits such as Food and Accommodation, Post-Matric Scholarship, Fee Concession, etc.

Benefits of the Vidyasiri Karnataka ePass Scholarships

This scheme provides an opportunity to the backward class students, who are meritorious and score good marks to achieve a waiver of tuition fees through a lucrative grant from the Govt. of Karnataka. To avail of the scholarship scheme, students have to fulfill some important eligibility conditions.

The 3 schemes under this scholarship have different eligibility conditions; which are enlisted below in detail:

#1 Pre Matric Scholarship Eligibility, Rewards, Process of Selection

Rewards:-

Eligibility :
1. Applicants must be belonging to Backward Classes Category I, 2A, 3A, and 3B.
2.  Annual income of the family should be below Rs. 44,500 / -.
3. Students of Backward classes studying in Government /Government recognized aided/ unaided schools are eligible to apply for this scholarship scheme.
4. Whereas, Students studying in govt/govt-aided hostels / residential schools are not eligible.
5. Students with more than 75 percent attendance in the previous class are eligible to apply.
6. Students who have failed in the previous class are not eligible.
Mode of Selection :
1. 1st priority: Granting scholarships to all eligible renewed students.
2. 2nd priority: Granting scholarships to all students of Backward Classes Category-I
3. 3rd priority: The remaining amount will be granted to the eligible class-2A, 3A, 3B, and other backward classes (only castes listed in the backward category of the central government) as per the following criteria:
1 Category – 2A 61 percent
2 Category – 3A 17 percent
3 Category – 3B 21 percent
4 other Backward Classes 01 percent
Total 100 percent
The procedure of Selection :
1. The concerned department will publish a notification instructing students to apply online for the pre-matric scholarship.
2. Applications submitted by the students online will be reviewed to confirm the eligible applications.
3. Filling out student information in the department’s pre-matric scholarship SSP software.
4. After checking the information filled, a declaration from Taluk Backward Classes Welfare Officers will be made.
5. Scholarships will be granted to selected eligible applications as per reservation policy in accordance with the respective year’s budget and money will be deposited directly into the student’s bank account through the Aadhar Bridge Payment System.

#2 Post Matric Scholarship Eligibility, Rewards, Process of Selection

Eligibility :
1. Applicant must be a citizen of India and a Permanent Resident of Karnataka and must belong to the caste included in the Backward Classes list specified by the Central Government/State Government.
2. Backward class students who are pursuing post-matric education in government/local body/ Aided institution/Recognized unaided private institutions affiliated to the statutory universities of Karnataka are eligible to apply for post-matric scholarships.
3. Students admitted to government hostels/residential colleges are not eligible for post-matric scholarships.
4. The annual family income limit has been fixed at Rs. 2.50 lakh for Category-I- I students and Rs. 1.00 lakh for Category – 2A, 3A, and 3B.
5. The minimum percentage set to get scholarships for new and renewed students in previous classes.

6. If an applicant is attending the equivalent courses more than once, He/She is not eligible for the post-matric scholarship.
7. Only 2 male members of the same family are eligible for the scheme. This restriction does not apply to females.
8. Post-matric scholarships per month for post-matric students attending various courses for a period of 10 months will be granted after considering eligibility and income limit.
The procedure of Selection :
1. Applications will be invited from eligible students in SSP software online.
2. Students applying for this scheme have to submit an online application along with prescribed documents and bank account number and IFSC code, caste, income certificate, previous class marks card, etc through online mode and submit the hard copy to concerned colleges.
3. College Principals and Inspection Officers will review the application forms and documents at the relevant level and confirm online that the said documents should be submitted to the concerned taluk backward classes welfare officers.
4. Taluk Backward Classes Welfare Officer will check, verify and confirm online.
5. District Backward Classes Welfare Officer will check the above-said information.
6. The scholarship will be granted to the eligible students on the basis of merit and marks in accordance with the district grant made available in the respective year.
7. Selected and eligible applications will be granted scholarships on reservation policy and the money will be deposited directly into the student’s bank account through Treasury-2 software, in accordance with the respective year’s budget.

#3 Vidyasiri Fee Concession Scheme Eligibility, Rewards, Process of Selection

The main purpose of this scheme is to enable the backward classes students to pursue higher education, the fees charged by the government colleges are deposited in the account of the principal of the concerned student’s college by the Government.

Eligibility :
1. Students applying for this scheme must be a Citizen of India and Permanent residents of Karnataka and belong to the caste included in the Backward Classes Notified by the Central or State Government.
2. Students pursuing post-matric courses in government / local Institutions / Aided Institutions / non-aided recognized private institutions, affiliated to the statutory universities of Karnataka.
3. The annual family income must be within the maximum limits set forth below to avail of the facility.
i) Rs.1.50 lakh for students of Category I and
ii) Rs.1.00 Lakhs for students of all religions, castes, and communities belonging to other backward classes listed by the Central or State Government
iii) Students belonging to the Social Welfare / Scheduled Tribes and Minority Welfare Departments are not eligible for this scheme.
4. New and Renewal students must have passed with the minimum marks mentioned below in the previous year’s annual examination in order to avail of these benefits.

5. a) Students attending the equivalent courses more than once are not eligible for this scheme.
b) Students attending postgraduate medical courses are not eligible for this facility if they are practicing medicine during the course.
c) Applicants who have passed in, Science, and Commerce courses, Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees, and attending approved Professional or Technical Certificate, Diploma, or Degree Courses and if they are otherwise eligible, are entitled to the benefits of the scheme. Those who have changed courses more than once are not eligible to apply.
d) Only 2 male members of the same family are eligible for the scheme. However, this restriction does not apply to girl students.
6. a) Fees eligible for the exemption: Only the following 5 fees are exempted from the rates set by the State Level Committee.
i) Tuition fees
ii) Laboratory fee (only for the courses in which courses are required by the laboratory)
iii) Examination fee
iv) Sports fee
v) Library fees
b) Readers’ Charges
Blind students attending post-matric courses are exempted from the below rates and will be paid the following:

#4 Vidyasiri Food and Accommodation Scheme Eligibility, Rewards, Process of Selection

Eligibility :
1. a) Applicant applying must be a citizen of India and a permanent resident of Karnataka.
b) His/her caste must be included in the list of Other Backward Classes as notified by the Central or State Government.
c) Students pursuing post-matric courses in government / local Institutions / Aided Institutions / non-aided recognized private institutions, affiliated to the statutory universities of Karnataka.
2. For students of backward classes who have not got admission to any departmental / government-funded student hostel and studying in post-matric courses will be sanctioned in the Vidyasiri-Food and Accommodation Scholarship Scheme are eligible.
3. For students selected under this scholarship scheme, a monthly stipend of Rs. 1500/- per month for a period of 10 months total of Rs.15000/- per annum during the academic period, will be credited to the student’s bank account.
4. Students
(i) Entry to Students Hostel,
(ii) Boarding and loading assistance plan and
(iii) Post-matric Scholarships –Eligible for any one of these facilities.
5. Those who are eligible for availing of this facility should submit the application online.
6. a) The Gross Family Annual Income should be within the limits set forth below.
(i) Rs.2.50 lakh for students of Category-I
(ii) Rs. 1.00 lakhs for students of Category-2A, 3A, and 3B
b) Students must be in rural areas and at least 5 km away from the college where they are studying. However, if the student’s residence place is in the city/town but attending colleges in a different city/town, he/she is eligible for this facility) New and Renewal students must pass with the minimum marks mentioned below in the previous year’s annual examination in order to avail of the facility.

7. a) Students attending the equivalent courses more than once are not eligible.
b) Students attending PG medical courses but practicing medicine during the course are not eligible.
c) Students who passed in Arts, Science, and Commerce courses, Graduate Degree’s or Master’s degrees and attending approved Professional or Technical Certificate, Diploma, Degree Courses and if they are otherwise eligible, they are entitled to the benefits of the scheme. But those students who have changed courses more than once are not eligible.
e) Only 2 male members of the same family are eligible for the scheme. However, this restriction does not apply to girls.
8. Class attendance of each student must be at least 75%.

The step-by-step procedure to apply for Vidyasiri Scholarship 2021 is listed below:

Vidaysiri Scholarship Online Apply Process

  • 1st Step – Visit the official website – karepass.cgg.gov.in.
  • 2nd Step- Under the “Student Zone” tab, click on the scholarship scheme that you want to apply for.
  • 3rd Step – Read the application details carefully.
  • 4th Step – Now enter all the relevant details in the ePASS Application Form.
  • 5th Step – Upload all the essential documents in the ePASS Application form.
  • 6th Step – Click on “Submit“.

After the successful submission of the Karnataka ePASS Vidyasiri Scholarship Application Form, you will receive the ePASS application status within 10 to 15 working days via email ID or registered mobile number.

If you do not receive any acknowledgment regarding the e-pass application status then, do visit the official portal to check your Vidyasiri Scholarship ePASS application status.

  • First, visit the official portal of Epass– karepass.cgg.gov.in
  • On the karepass homepage, head over to the “Student Services” tab.
  • Then click on the “Application Status”.
  • Now enter your Application Number, SSLC Register Number, Date of Birth, SSLC Pass Type, Academic Year, and Year of Pass details and enter the Captcha.
  • Click on “Get Status” and know your Vidyasiri Scholarship Application status
