The Govt. of India on 19th August 2020 approved setting up of National Recruitment Agency aimed at conducting multiple recruitment exams through a single entrance exam or common eligibility test – NRA CET.
It is believed that this decision will help to make the recruitment process a lot easier than before. Earlier students used to appear in different entrance examinations for different government jobs. But now, students can apply for a single entrance exam commonly known as NRA CET Exam. The score of the NRA Exam will be valid for 3 years.
As per the news from the official sources, at least 1000 centers, one in each district will be set up, for arranging this entrance test. It will allow job-seekers to take one common test and save costs and time spent on writing multiple exams.
Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh addressed the media termed the cabinet decision to set up the NRA as a historic, visionary and revolutionary reform in the field of recruitment for central government jobs.
NRA Full-Form – NRA stands for National Recruitment Agency. CET stands for Common Eligibility Test.
This agency aims to conduct a common eligibility test for various central government recruitment and jobs. NRA will conduct a common eligibility test (CET) and based on that scores a candidate can apply for a govt job with the respective agency.
Initially, the NRA Agency will conduct eligibility tests for Group B and C (non-technical) posts. But, there is a proposal to expand it for other group posts also.
Initially, the NRA Agency will organize a CET to shortlist candidates for the Group B and C (non -technical) posts, which are being conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Railways Recruitment Board (RRB) and Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS).
Later on, more exams may be conducted through this NRA CET Exam. The test will be conducted for 3 levels:
Based on the shortlisting done at the CET score level, final selection for recruitment shall be made through separate Tiers/Phases (II, III, etc.) of the exam which shall be conducted by the respective recruitment agencies.
How to Apply for NRA Exam – In a short time, the govt will launch an official portal and online link through which you can register yourself to appear for the CET Exam. So stay tuned with us for further important updates regarding NRA Test.
As per the views of the govt, this new scheme will benefit the poor students, as in the present scenario they have to appear in multiple examinations conducted by multiple agencies which is a cumbersome process.
In old process, students/job seekers/applicants have to incur expenditure on examination fees, travel, boarding, lodging, and other things. This single entrance test is expected to reduce the financial burden on such candidates.
The government has sanctioned an amount of Rs 1,517.57 crore for NRA Agency, it said, adding that the expenditure will be undertaken over a period of 3 years. This single common eligibility test will lead to ease of selection, ease of job placement and ease of living, especially for those sections of society that are considered disadvantaged
